What Makes This Song a Masterpiece
Recently, I released my instrumental unplugged version of Here, There and Everywhere by the Beatles, one of Sir Paul McCartney's timeless gems. This song is not only a melodic and harmonic marvel but also a fantastic opportunity to practice fingerstyle guitar.
In this post, I’ll show you how to play the accompaniment guitar part—which includes the melody—and share some tips to tackle this piece more effectively.

The Harmonic Magic of the Beatles
One of the most fascinating aspects of Here, There and Everywhere is how the Beatles transition between different keys to create unique atmospheres. The song starts in G major but soon shifts to other keys, like B-flat, before returning to G. This interplay of tonalities adds incredible depth to the piece, showcasing the Beatles’ compositional brilliance.
For example, the introduction begins in G major with an arpeggio that already incorporates the sung melody. Shortly after, the shift to a B-flat minor chord introduces an emotional change, creating that sense of transition that makes the song so special.
Fingerstyle Exercises
For solo guitarists, Here, There and Everywhere is perfect for developing fingerstyle technique, as you’ll need to combine melody, bass, and harmony simultaneously. Here are some key sections:
In my version, I’ve also added some trills and embellishments to enrich the performance, but the most important thing is to always focus on the melody.
A Personal Arrangement
For the final section, I decided to add a personal touch. Instead of using the F dominant chord as in the original, I opted for a different voicing that I found more fitting for my interpretation. That’s the beauty of arranging a song: you can honor the original intent while infusing your own personality.
Conclusion
Here, There and Everywhere is more than just a song—it’s a lesson in harmony, melody, and arrangement. I encourage you to explore it at your own pace, practice the arpeggios, and let yourself be carried away by its key changes and atmospheres.
